Okay, here are a few tweak I make to all of my PC's when I want to crank out a little extra performance. Keep in mind that you will not get a huge performance gain, but these tweaks will give you a little gain.

1) PAGE FILES

Problem: I have found that some of the stuttering in games are because of the Hard Drive itself. Since HDD are still the slowest part of your machine, it will slow your games slightly. The reason is because Windows write the page-file whenever it needs to. Often times this happens while you are playing a game.

Solution: Have Windows keep it's page-file on a different disk. I don't put the page-file on the disk that my game run off of. This only slows you down when a game is loading data, and Windows is writing the page-file to the same disk at the same time. Go into you system settings>system properties>advanced>performance settings> and change your virtual memory so it uses another disk that your games are not installed on.

2) INDEXING SERVICE

Problem: This slows you down by causing reaction delays on your HDD. Every time a new file is added to the drive or changes, Windows indexes it, and this hurts performance slightly.

Solution: Right click your drives and go to properties, then make sure you clear the indexing box for each HDD. Who needs indexing anyway?

3) DEFRAG & HEALTH

Massively fragmented drives will get slower and slower over time, quicker than they should. This is why you should keep your drives defraged. Keep your drive healthy by keeping it maleware free, and cool.
